POSITION TITLE: Executive Director, Econ Illinois

Econ Illinois, an affiliate of the national Council for Economic Education, is a consortium of business, labor, academic, and government leaders who cooperate in programs which encourage school districts to implement economic education in the classroom. Econ Illinois also works with adult education groups in the field of economics. A tax-exempt education corporation (form #M-0714 dated 10/20/ 70),Econ Illinois operates through a system of eight university-based centers located at Bradley University, Dominican University, Governors State University, Northern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, University of Illinois-Chicago, the University of Illinois-Urbana/ Champaign, and Western Illinois University. Headquartered at Northern Illinois University, Econ Illinois coordinates the activities of the state organization and its centers.

NATURE OF POSITION:

Overall management, fundraising, programming, and fiscal responsibilities for Econ Illinois, the network of eight university-based centers in Illinois; representative for Econ Illinois to state and national economic education organizations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
A. Executive Director of Econ Illinois: Will have overall management, fund raising, and fiscal responsibilities for Econ Illinois; will work to maintain and improve Econ Illinois’s network of eight university Centers of Economic Education; will assist the Council and its eight centers in developing and disseminating K-12 in-service, pre-service, and graduate credit economics and personal finance programs; will work closely with Econ Illinois officers and staff and the Executive Committee, Board of Trustees and Governing Board of Econ Illinois in carrying out planning, fundraising, and public relations functions.

B. Extension and Curriculum Development: Coordinate the development and dissemination of programs, K-12 teacher professional development and curriculum materials for Econ Illinois and the Centers, the national Council for Economic Education, and the National Association of Economic Educators network.

C. Teaching: Based upon interest, need, and expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS: Baccalaureate degree required. Advanced degree strongly preferred. The successful candidate must possess proven skills and at least 3 years experience in administration and organization, program development, supervision, finance/budgeting, grant writing, fund raising, communications (both written/verbal), and advocacy. Preference will be given to candidates whose background in education, non-profit leadership, financial management and/or fund-raising promises to sustain the partnership of business, labor, education, and government which has made Econ Illinois one of the country’s premier providers of economic education programs.

START DATE: July 1, 2012

SALARY: Commensurate with training and expertise
